Mayan Train
Fonatur stated in a Mayan Train progress report that the first evaluations of the four Mayan Train carriages at the Cancun station have begun. On Monday, Javier May Rodriguez, the General Director of the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur), confirmed that testing would commence.
During the morning press conference, the president announced that the four vehicles of the first convoy, which were manufactured in Ciudad Sahagn, Hidalgo, and transported to Cancn, have been assembled in the maintenance facility.
Once assembled, they began static testing, which included, among other systems, pneumatics, heating, ventilation, and illumination.
“The train will initiate a new phase of tourism in the nation. Modern, sustainable, and secure, with the integration of communities and villages and complete access to the splendor of the southeast of Mexico”, he said.
Manuel Muñozcano Castro, the general director of Azvindi, stated that the construction companies’ projects are being completed on time and without delays in order to meet the commitments that have been made.
Additionally being tested are door control and passenger information systems. The automobiles are presently stored in the maintenance facility located behind Cancun International Airport. August is scheduled for the trial of the track between Cancun and Merida.
