Riviera Maya, Q.R. — During his weekend visit to Cancun and Riviera Maya, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reiterated the Maya Train project as a priority.

While in the area, he commented on the restart of section 5, which he said, will be built “in strict adherence to the law.”

“With absolute adherence to legality, patience and the support of the people, we have restarted the work on the Cancun-Tulum section. The Amparos did not proceed in legal, environmental or social matters. There will be a Maya Train,” he posted on his social media Saturday.

He also stressed the importance of the project for the southeastern region of the country. AMLO spent the weekend checking on the progress of sections 1, 6 and 7, while section 5 was restarted, which also includes the held-up section 5 south that will run from Playa del Carmen to Tulum.

AMLO arrived in Chetumal Saturday to confirm Maya Train work sections. While in Quintana Roo, he also paid a visit to Governor Carlos Joaquin and Governor-elect, Mara Lezama who posted a photo of all three.

With the Maya Train, the transformation in the southeast advances,” Lezama posted.
