Canada’s Cancun — The Joya Cancun Hospital was officially opened by the governor Mara Lezama and the mayor of Cancun Ana Patricia Peralta. The recently established hospital is the first of its kind in the area to concentrate solely on medical travel.
During the inauguration, Peralta remarked, “Thank you for believing in Cancun, investing, and establishing yourself to generate more sources of employment and improve the medical offer in our city.“
She continued, “This is the first hospital in the hotel district”, the municipality’s tourist hub.
Authorities took a quick tour of the hospital’s two-story facilities, which house over 35 specialists.
Cancun ranks second in the world for international travelers, according to Armando Joya Mungua, president of Grupo Médico Joya. As a result, the hospital was constructed to meet the tremendous demand for speciality services of the highest caliber.
It is the first and only one in Cancun’s hotel district. Its strategic location will enable any request or medical emergency to be handled promptly and immediately, according to Joya Mungua.
Future plans, he continued, include building additional hospital facilities in Playa del Carmen and Tulum, where they also hope to boost the medical tourism sector.
