After the week-long event called Tianguis Turístico that was held in Acapulco, there were some favorable outcomes for the city of Cancun. In total, 45 different countries were in attendance. But, the largest representation of attendees came from the Mexican Caribbean. And because of the presentations and networking that took place at the conference, 15 new flights were added to the Cancun International Airport.
These new flights will come from a number of different airlines, including Aeromexico, Evelop, Interjet, Volaris, Viva Aerobus and Gol. Interjet is the first to introduce a new flight starting on June 5. The route will be Medellín-Cancún. And Aeroméxico is planning to roll out the following routes: Cali-Colombia, Quito, Ecuador-Cancún and Minneapolis-Cancún.
Beginning late this summer, Evelop will offer a Madrid-Cancun route on its Airbus 350 aircraft. That means more seats will be available to allow a larger number of passengers to travel to Cancun. The airline, Viva Aerobus will present a few new routes. From Hermosillo-Cancun, Tijuana-Cancun, and charter flights from New York, Nashville, Raleigh and Cincinnati.
Airline Gol will operate a Brasilia-Cancun direct route four times each week and will fly from Charlotte, Cincinnati and Memphis, to Cancun direct, once a week. Starting in August, Turkish Airlines will have an Istanbul-Cancun route.
