Tulum, Q. R. — According to Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the President of Mexico, the Tulum International Airport is making development. On Thursday, he provided an update in which he stated that the airport’s construction had progressed approximately 20 percent.

“We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed the renovation of the Chetumal airport. The first phase of the airport’s construction in Tulum has commenced. About twenty percent of the construction of this world-class international airport has been finished as of this moment. “The grand opening is scheduled for the month of December of the following year,” he disclosed during his morning press conference.

He brought to everyone’s attention the fact that the Olmeca-Maya-Mexica corporation, which is overseen by the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), will be in charge of managing the Tulum airport. In addition to administering the Maya Train, this corporation will be responsible for the management of a number of additional airports located across the country.

López Obrador claimed that he has left these projects in Sedena’s care in order to prevent privatization because they were created with public funds. This is the reason why he has left these projects in the hands of Sedena.
