Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A joint operation by state authorities resulted in the recovery of central beach areas in Playa del Carmen. On Monday, elements took to the Playa del Carmen central beaches where they proceeded to seize items and demolish illegal structures.

According to the FGE, dozens of officials from the Mesa de Coordinación Estatal participated in the beach cleaning, which the FGE says, is part of their Safe Beach Operation, which is meant to recover public spaces.

After the brief FGE announcement, local businesses both thanked and congratulated those who participated in the operation saying that they support these actions “to recover the peace and tranquility of our destination.”

“We are aware that on Monday, September 27, the Mesa de Coordinación Estatal, made up of SEDENA, the National Intelligence Center, the National Guard, the Armed Navy, the State Attorney General’s Office and the Quintana Roo Police, came into action again carrying out the 4th operation that has occurred successively in recent weeks in Playa del Carmen.”

President of the Asociación Mexicana de Mujeres Empresarias Riviera Maya, Araceli Sandoval, added that the operation resulted “in an order to remove illegal structures that were gradually installed in recent years in the beach areas (ZMF), areas where they comment criminal acts.”

He said that local Riviera Maya businesses support these efforts, which helps aid in the recovery of trust on the part of the business community, citizens and tourists.

“If public spaces progressively deteriorate and no action is taken, these places will be abandoned by the majority of the people, and these same spaces will be progressively occupied by criminals and thus, social ills will grow distorting the environment.”

“On the contrary, if authorities at all levels of competence and society at all levels take care of cleaning, beautifying, respecting and positively influencing our image in the broadest sense, we all win,” he said.
