Tulum, Q.R. — Work to repair the coastal road of Tulum has begun. On Thursday, municipal head Marciano Dzul Caamal announced the transformation of the area, which he says, is an economic spearhead.
Dzul Caamal explained the project will include the rehabilitation of the coastal road from Cobá Avenue to the Sian ka’an arch. He said that particular section will be fully paved with an investment of 3.2 million peso.
When presenting the project, Dzul Caamal reiterated that his government will apply historical investments in the main tourist arteries of the municipality.
“Today we serve an old and heartfelt demand from many Tulum residents. This is a pre (project), one of the big projects that will come to the coastal area,” he said adding that the resources being used to improve area are from the Municipal Treasury thanks to the savings generated by City Council.
The mayor says that Public Works will rehabilitate the road in the shortest time possible, around 30 days weather depending, so as not to hinder traffic flow or business logistics.
“This area is important for the municipality. It is where tourism flows and therefore, it is a priority for me to give it that attention,” said Dzul Caamal. He also said that there is a project to rehabilitate the entire coastal area, which could be carried out as of next year.
“We want to turn this coastal part into something worthy not only for those who work, but also for those who visit Tulum,” he said.
