Q.R. Riviera Maya — Coparmex has announced a number of initiatives to promote the Riviera Maya. Members of the Employers Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) Riviera Maya gave a talk on the National Tourism Plan for 2023 on Wednesday.
Marc Pujol Folch, president of Coparmex Riviera Maya, provided an update on the upcoming projects during the news conference, which was presided over by Bernardo Cueto, the secretary of Quintana Roo Tourism.
Obtaining a certification for digital nomads for Quintana Roo, according to Floch, is one of the projects for Riviera Maya tourism in 2023. He added that this certification “is intended to be later taken nationally.”
He added that this year, promoting the area as a destination for medical tourism will be their top priority.
Consolidating Quintana Roo as a destination for medical tourism is one of our top priorities for this year because we have all the necessary resources. “We have the best hotels and medical professionals, and we need to improve as a nation in this area,” he said.
The Biofest project in Tulum will also start at the end of February. According to Folch, associations and representatives of federal and state agencies will participate in the event to develop strategies for environmental protection and sustainability.
The event, he noted, “will represent a before and after in terms of sustainability, in terms of tourism in our state,” and it is the most significant of its kind in Latin America.
He added that they hoped to host it annually and that Tulum is hosting it because the city “has to function as a sustainable destination and position itself as a tourist destination in this matter.”
Additionally, Coparmex Riviera Maya stated that they are collaborating with the state government to consolidate new routes with other cities across the nation in order to promote domestic tourism through new marketing initiatives.
The Riviera Maya will be promoted as a destination for medical tourism this year, according to Bernardo Cueto, who also announced the formation of a committee to do the same for businesses looking to invest there.
