Cancun Destination Mitzvahs. Honeymoons, spring break, destination weddings and now destination mitzvahs make their way to Cancun. For some Jewish families who don’t belong to a synagogue, they are choosing to host their kids bat and bar mitzvahs in Cancun.

One family from New Jersey, U.S. considered destination weddings and thought, why not a destination bat mitzvah? When it was time for their son’s bat mitzvah they decided to head down to Cancun and have it beachside.

The family had a wonderful time and were able to celebrate with 35 friends and relatives at an all-inclusive resort. Compared to what the full cost would have been in New Jersey, the trip to Cancun was more economical. Plus, it was a longer event that included a five-day getaway, plus a golf outing and a sunset catamaran cruise.

Traditionally bar mitzvahs have been held at venues such as golf clubs, banquet halls, or private homes. And today popular venues include all-inclusive Mexican resorts, cruises and trips to Italy. On average, a family will spend US $3,000 to $5,000 for the celebratory event, and US $2,000 to $3,000 for the clergy and preparation. Cancun Destination Mitzvahs
