Although it was a work in progress for quite some time, Little Cancun is now open for business. Located at 3040 S. Delaware Ave. in Bay View, this restaurant is part of a mini-retail complex. Other stores include Stag Barbershop, Bentley’s Pet Stuff, TradeCraft, Commonplace and Small Pie. Little Cancun fills the space that was once occupied by R&D Pub and Hector’s Mexican Restaurant.
Besides a fresh coat of paint, this restaurant has been refurbished and includes brand new tile flooring. The bar has a lot more seating now, new chalkboards display the specials and several TVs play their guests favorite sporting events.
Veronica Cervera, the owner of Little Cancun said, “we installed televisions so people can watch the game, but we’ll keep the sound low so it won’t disturb other customers.”
The main dining room seats about 5o people and features cozy seating, new carpet, and natural stone accents. And the kitchen got spruced up as well, with the addition of new equipment. “I really had a vision for the space. It took way longer than we expected, but I’m really happy with how it turned out,” commented Cervera.
This is Little Cancun’s second location, the first has been in the family since 2004 and is located at 7273 S. 27th Street in Franklin. Satisfied customers keep returning for the house-made tortilla chips, margaritas and daily specials. And now they can enjoy all this at the new spot in Bay View.
Some of Little Cancun’s most beloved dishes include chunky beef nachos supreme, shrimp soup, chicken fajitas, and huachinango (fried red snapper served with rice and pico de gallo).
Little Cancun offers daily specials every day of the week. And in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, their specials will be steak taco dinners ($8.95), chimichanga dinners ($9.95), and menudo ($9.95). Some of the drinks on special that day include five dollar house margaritas and three dollar Coronas.
