Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Air Canada has announced an increase in direct flights to Quintana Roo, further strengthening its commitment to Mexico’s top tourist destinations. In 2025, the airline will expand its operations from 53 to 60 flights, enhancing connectivity for travelers from Canada to Quintana Roo.

The news was shared at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, where Air Canada also confirmed the return of seasonal Montreal-Cozumel flights. This expansion will improve access to Cancun, Cozumel, and Tulum, making travel to the Mexican Caribbean even more convenient.

Boosting Quintana Roo’s Tourism and Economy

Governor Mara Lezama welcomed the airline’s decision, emphasizing its impact on the region’s economy and tourism industry. “Air Canada will increase the number of flights to Cancun from 53 to 60 in 2025. It will also strengthen connectivity to Cozumel, reinforcing the region’s leadership in international tourism,” she stated.

She highlighted how increased flights align with Quintana Roo’s New Era of Tourism, a government initiative aimed at attracting more visitors while fostering sustainable development. The added routes will support the region’s thriving tourism sector, creating more opportunities for businesses and the local workforce.

Growing Connectivity to Tulum International Airport

Lezama also noted that Air Canada was the first airline to operate flights from Canada to Tulum International Airport, reinforcing its role in the expansion of Quintana Roo’s air travel network. Tulum’s airport, which recently opened, is expected to become a key hub for international travelers looking to explore the Riviera Maya.

With this expansion, Canadians will have even better access to popular destinations like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel. Whether visiting for the Mayan ruins of Tulum, the vibrant nightlife of Cancun, or the stunning beaches of Isla Mujeres, travelers can now reach these destinations more easily.

More Flights, More Tourism Growth

As one of the leading airlines serving Mexico, Air Canada’s increased flights to Quintana Roo signal strong demand for travel between Canada and the Mexican Caribbean. The resumed Montreal-Cozumel route will benefit tourists and expatriates alike, providing more travel flexibility throughout the year.
