Aeromexico’s B737 flight AM9455, registered as XA-AML, completed the inaugural test flight to Tulum on Tuesday afternoon. This flight is a precursor to the airport’s official opening, scheduled for December 1, 2023. On this date, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will inaugurate the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport of Tulum.

Aeromexico was one of the first commercial airlines to announce regular flights from Mexico City to the new Tulum International Airport. The airline expressed excitement about launching operations with two daily flights between Mexico City International Airport and Tulum. These flights will begin on December 1, 2023.

Enhancing Connectivity to Tulum

Aeromexico emphasized the importance of this new route. It will offer more travel options to both national and international travelers eager to explore Tulum and the southern Riviera Maya. Adding Tulum to Aeromexico’s network reinforces the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity within Quintana Roo. The airline already operates flights to Cancun, Chetumal, and Cozumel.

The first passenger flight from Mexico City to Tulum is set for Friday, December 1, 2023. The flight will depart from Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City at 11:55 a.m. It is scheduled to arrive at Tulum International Airport at 3:00 p.m., marking the beginning of regular passenger services.

New Developments at Tulum International Airport

In addition to the new flight routes, Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama announced that Tulum International Airport will feature its own Foreign Relations Office. This development is currently underway, with Governor Lezama confirming that discussions with General Gustavo Vallejo, who oversees the airport’s construction, are progressing well.
