Cancun, Q.R. – This modern hotel capsule concept has been designated for use at the Cancun International Airport.  Officials say the hotel consists of 50 capsules and is open to travelers passing through.

Among the people in attendance for the grand opening of the airport’s new capsule hotel was Governor Carlos Joaquin who was proud to say, “This project is the reflection of how the private initiative continues to support the sustained growth of Quintana Roo, demonstrating its ability to increase competitiveness, creating employment opportunities and fueling the sense of pride of our own communities.”

The Yellow Capsule Hotel in Cancun ushers in a modern design for new hotels, being only the second located in Mexico.  Out of the 50 capsule rooms available, 16 are double and 34 remain equipped for the lone traveler. The capsule hotel was created with features suited for the traveler passing by, including free coffee, and common areas such as a terrace and work area.

Víctor Hugo Valenzuela Yan, partner of the hotel says the capsule design draws inspiration from those built in Japan, with the purpose of guaranteeing travelers a safe rest area now featuring technological services, something new in hospitality.

Carlos Joaquín elaborated when saying that out of the 23 million visitors Quintana Roo welcomed last year, 2.5 million of them were millennial tourists with their destination being the Riviera Maya and Cancun.  In that time, more than 107,000 hotel rooms were developed, increasing the growth by 4% over the previous year. This is due in part to the state meeting the new market’s needs.
