Playa del Carmen, Q.R. – Reports from Municipal officials show more than 10,500 people regularly using the Playa del Carmen Biciplaya bike service to traverse through the city.
The service began in September with a meager 70 users and according to Diego Grácidas Martínez of the Empresa Promotora de Reordenamiento, the service has grown tremendously. He claims more than 10,500 people utilize the service established in the city.
“It has been progressively favorably. It has been increasing day-by-day in terms of the number of users which has placed us as one of the main four bicycle loan systems in the Mexican Republic,” he stated.
Martínez says the bike program set up around the city ranges from within the cities core to as far as Plaza Las Américas, roughly five kilometers away. He further explained that in order to use the bikes, users must sign up for a membership and choose a loan time option. Fortunately, bikes are available all 365 days of the year with prices starting at 98 pesos for a day to 420 pesos for an annual pass.
