Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Quintana Roo’s Cancun and Tulum are among the top female travel destinations in Quintana Roo, attracting international travelers seeking safety, adventure, and authentic experiences. These cities ranked as two of the four most preferred destinations for female tourists in Mexico during 2024, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

Tulum Leads Female Travel Preferences

Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Secretary of Tourism, highlighted Tulum as the leading choice for female travelers, capturing 59% of their preferences. Cancun followed closely with 53.7%, making both destinations stand out as prime female travel destinations in Quintana Roo.

Safety and Welcoming Environments

Both Cancun and Tulum were praised for their safe and friendly atmospheres. Tulum, in particular, attracted nearly 59% of its international visitors as single female travelers. Other popular destinations among solo female tourists included Oaxaca (53.8%), Cancun (53.7%), and Los Cabos (53.4%).

Quintana Roo’s Commitment to Women-Friendly Tourism

Governor Mara Lezama of Quintana Roo celebrated this recognition. She noted the state’s commitment to creating inclusive, responsible, and women-friendly tourism experiences. “This confirms the growing trend of female tourism in the state. Women seek not only relaxation but also authentic and safe experiences,” she said.

Lezama added that Quintana Roo destinations provide diverse activities. These range from wellness and relaxation to adventure and cultural exploration—all within a secure and respectful setting.

Rising Numbers of Female Travelers

In the first 11 months of 2024, Mexico welcomed 10.2 million international female travelers by air. This represented a 2.4% increase from the same period in 2023. More than half of these visitors chose Quintana Roo, solidifying its status as a top destination for women.
